It's been a month since I have blogged or done pretty much anything on the internet. First, we moved. Then, the lame "mobile hotspot" thing we were trying from virgin mobile was POOP. The internet connection was shaky at best, and with the two little crazies, I didn't have time to wait 5 minutes for each page to load.... so I left the computer alone. To reinforce my feeling of isolation from the world, my laptop died... or at least the screen did (still haven't figured that one out yet). Anyway, we finally got some real internet hooked up last week, and I am just using the big desktop for now. Better than nothing.
So yeah, I was still running while we moved, but not amazingly consistently or anything. Then last Sunday, my loving husband came to sit at the dinner table, and dropped a sheet of paper in front of me. At the top, a title:
Hayley 5k Thanksgiving Schedule
"Putting the More in Paramore and the Rage in Rage Against the Machine"
Cute man... (those are some of my favorite bands to run to). Then there was a whole 6 week plan for me to lead up to my race on Thanksgiving. My goal this year has been to get a new PR at the Thanksgiving race in Fredericksburg. I PR'ed there last year (24:49) and thought it would be pretty cool to do it again this year, just a few months after having my second baby.
Anyhow, I have been following the plan faithfully. Here is a brief recap of the first week:
MONDAY: 25 minutes
TUESDAY: Workout 1 (fartlek 5x1 minute)
WEDNESDAY: 20 minutes
THURSDAY: 20 minutes
FRIDAY: Resistance Workout 1 (biceps) + 2 miles
SATURDAY: Long Run 1 (40 minutes)
I won't bore you with all those details, but it went well, and I ran a total of about 15 miles last week. Not much for most people, but definitely good for me. The main accomplishment is just running all 6 days (since we don't do workouts on Sundays). Consistency is a good step for me.
Here's this week, thus far:
MONDAY: 25 minutes (did it with the BOB on rolling hills... haven't measured it yet, but felt pretty good that day).
TUESDAY: Workout 2 (fartlek 8 x 30 s) Did 8 minute warmup, then went through the fartleks, progressing from an 8:30ish pace up to a 7:48 pace on the last one. Felt really good doing the little sprints... I enjoy that. It was a fun workout. I kept the resting pace around 9:15 or so. Cooled down for like 3.5 minutes. Ran a total of 2.2 mi in 20 minutes. (Ran on treadmill).
WEDNESDAY: 20 minutes. Didn't feel as good today. And the 2 year old in the house has been difficult to handle. Oh well. I did 2.2 miles.
So things are good... just plugging away. And feeling good to be somewhat reconnected with the world through the internet... just in time too, since I have no car this week, or probably next week either..... bleh. Don't ask.
Oh yay! I had to laugh at the title of your schedule. That's TOTALLY a Roggia thing. haha! You'll totally PR. You're so fast! I'd watch Ellie & Seth for you if we lived close.
